Fiona Norris reported on the Flower Booth at the San Juan County Fair. There were not as many entries, but the entries were very nice. The Best of Show was an outstanding lily. Sandra and Fiona worked together to superintend the booth. Wilma’s granddaughter spent the day and helped a lot. There were attractive straw hats, even one with peacock feathers.
The question was raised as to the Fair Booklet. What to do? Many people appreciate the written booklet. There was a discussion about the cost of printing the booklet; the thought that there is a new team running the SJC Fair; and the comment that Andrew Seltzer did a very good job of organizing and developing the past booklets. No decision was made. Fiona Norris was going to ask the Fairgrounds Staff if they could fund the Fair Booklet.
A young man won the Youth Best in Class with his bonsai. He is very interested in the art of bonsai.
Clipboards were sent around to update members’ information and to sign up for hostess duties. If you haven’t signed up yet for one of our monthly meetings, please call or e-mail President Marguerite Bennett.
