President Marguerite Bennett called the meeting to order and introduced the speaker, Paul Flack, who gave a talk about growing dahlias on our island. Paul and his wife sell garden tubers and flowers at their garden stand and at the local Farmers Market. Paul handed out a sheet with dahlia information and a coupon to use during the growing season. J He said that dahlias have three important requirements: 1) a good sunny place 2) fertile soil amended with manure or compost and 3) adequate and regular supply of water. Paul brought dahlia tubers to sell and dahlia books to look at and he was very willing to help or talk to anyone who had questions. He has had a passion for growing flowers all his life. Thank you, Paul.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read.
